Warning! Users with cars MY07 and earlier may experience power drain issues after the upgrade. See the post “Upgrading 2nd generation radios (RCD 300, RCD 500) to 3rd generation (RCD 210, RCD 310, RNS 310, RCD 510) power drain issue” for more details.

I see some of the newest DAB+ units comes with FW 6720!! Will this be available for download soon?

  • jahegu

this can be directly installed from a C 2680 ?

  • Rick

hi, I have the rns510 v1t0035680D, firmware 3810 and located in AU. Can my unit still be upgraded to 5269, is there anything tricky I may need to be aware of.

  • Almis

    Hi,
Can anyone tell what will happen if I will try to install this upgrade on 1T0 035 680 A (1T0035680A) firmware 1000?

  • Laurentiu

    Hey,

Can this firmware also be installed on 3T0 035 686 C Skoda columbus unit? It has DAB and minimum SW required is 5238. And also, is there a modified version for this unit with VIM activate, hidden menu and battery drain removal issue? thanks.

  • I want to check that i can safely apply this firmware upgrade to my head unit ?

You state above “Units that can be upgraded include (still being compiled may not be 100%) All D and later versions” , but your RNS510 article – Adding DAB/DAB+ support to the Volkswagen Golf Mark V & VI, Jetta, Passat and others” states
“the difference between the C version has Western European maps installed and the D version has Eastern European maps”

My VW Scirocco (UK Market) was built in June 2013 (MY14) , and i *think* my RNS510 DAB is the right one – it has a sticker on the rear of the unit which says 1T0 035 686 C and it states 30.05.13 on the sticker ( which is presume is the build date of the head unit ) . It has a Hardware Level of HW:09 and came with software level 5238.
It already has DAB , so – is it simply a case of upgrading the firmware to 5269 in order to activate DAB+ ?

    http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd149/streetfighter1216/Scirocco/IMG_1796_zps0cf37273.jpg

    I’ve got the 5269 ISO – dare i try it ?

I’m confused & I would really appreciate confirmation on this

    many thanks – Lee (England)

    • Maverick

The first part is talking about hardware levels (revision D and above) which your headunit is.

The second part is the part number of the head unit and in this case the C and the D just denote what maps come preloaded.

You should not have any problems loading up 5269 and I would be interested in hearing back if the this enables DAB+ as you should already have it. I’ve tested 5238 in Australia but we only have DAB+ so I can’t test how it operates if you have DAB and DAB+ available.

I’m about to upgrade my 5238 headunit to fix the random GPS zoom issue with 5269.

      • Chaudhryji

        Agree with Maverick
UK Lee I was in the same situation like you till yesterday…not any longer. Exactly same configuration like you Just the made was in DE and model is Passat TDI.
        No issues witnessed since yesterday.

Next step revamp the map DB.

Thanks all to contribute in this forum it helped in making the right choice.

        -Caio

  • Thanks Maverick – i’m probably being a bit thick , but i’m still confused about the ‘C’ & ‘D’ thing ? ignoring the part number , how do i know what hardware level my headunit is ? – does HW:09 relate to a hardware revision ‘letter’ ?

i cant find anyone who’s actually loaded 5269 from the older 5238 – and to be honest I’m worried about being the guinea pig and bricking my unit !

  • alberg

    Hi
I have gone from 5218 to 5269 and 2 things changed
    1. GPS lost itself for awhile (car on one street on map 100meters off)
    2. When on full start up before couls change preset radio stations on steering wheel, now it changes from preset 1 to a non preset station (this only happens until the system is fully loaded)

  • topher90

uk lee did you try it? I’m wondering weather to do it or not on my 2012 Rns510 from 4020

  • mart

I hereby confirm that this update worked with my 2013 Skoda Superb Columbus unit, HW version H10, firmware 5238.

  • Manea Rudolf Adrian

    Hello,
This firmware is the official one ?
    Or a modified one ?
I want to know if it is good for RNS 1T0035680F, which has now installed official FW 5238 ?
It requires recoding unit with VCDS, after installing this firmware ?
Waiting for response from you .
    Thank you .
    Rudy .

  • badsoden

Will I be able to install this on my 1T0 035 680 B unit? Is the secret menu activated in this firmware image? I currently have firmware 4020 installed will the above give me radio text?

  • Bobby Brown

I’ve just received a DAB RNS510 version C from eBay. The languages for the satnav section do not work so I’m wondering if a new firmware install will help this? Would you advise on a map install first? Again i’m a bit cautious of trying to upgrade and knackering my unit.

  • Mircea

Hello to everybody. I have one question. Can i upgrade my rns510 from 2760 to 5269?
My rns510 is C revision with HW h04 (this is what display to info).
    Thank you.

  • jelle

Hello, I just updated my Columbus with this fw. Works really good, however I cannot change the language to Dutch (Nederlands). Each time I select the language it asks for the navigation dvd which is already in the unit. Ejecting and reinserting does not solve the problem…
    Can someone help?

  • Stephen

I have a 2013 passat tdi rns510 unit. I just checked and the firmware says 3696. Is it safe to download this file and upgrade it myself? Will I notice any difference?
    Thanks

  • Snarfu.

    • Radu

      Best Rrgards

    HW-Version H07
    SW-Version 5269 was 5218

  • ed0

Can I update my current 3970 (factory) with this version without recoding the RNS?. I guess I don’t have to do it as it has .301 extension in VERSION.txt, but I would like to have a confirmation. Thanks!!

  • MattC

@UK Lee, i did notice that in your image you uploaded your hardware revision actually says HW:H09 which to me says it is hardware revision H. However i am new to this system as well, and so i do not know if it saying H09 actually means this is hardware revision H09.

I am also interested in upgrading my system to this version and need some help finding out my current version and if this upgrade will work. I can see a lot of people asking similar questions but no one seems to be offering any answers.

    Cheers,
    MattC

  • Carl

This is so out of date technology, so last century. The RNS 510 will soon be forgotten if it can’t get up to date. People need navi systems which support different audio-, video- and image formats. And systems that you can connect to internet.

  • Dinu

Hi, first sorry my english is poor…
I made update to my FW – first to 3810 and after to 5269. My questions is:

    1. I had Delivery part number 1T0035680D under 3810 FW and now under 5269 its 1T0035680L, this is normal?
    2. Its booting like in 1 min, its ok?
    3. Its ok if I don’t have nothing on PHONE option?
    4. How I can know how many GB my hard have?
    5. With FW its the best for me?

  • Dinu

    I forget this information
    Version info:
    under 3810 was: 1T0035680D
    HW-Version – H11

    under 5269: 1T0035680L
    HW-Version – H11
    HW Vehicle – 0xC201
    SW Vehicle – 0x44550009
    Bootloader Vehicle – 0x44340001

    Thanks friends…

  • Jogi

    hi

    my unit details are:
    Part no: 3T0035680B
    HW-Version: H42

  • John

do i need to install the MAPS and POI again after updating my RNS ?

and is it possible to update my unit with this FW ?

    i have :

    PN : 1T0 035 680 F
    HWv : H06
    SWv : 3970
    SV SWv: C_EU_10.344_t190
    HWvehicle : 0xC801

    • Tom

Hi John, I had the same version installed on my RNS 510. No need to reinstall maps and POI’s – they were all there afterwards. Upgrade went perfectly as long as I kept the door open and keys out of the ignition!

  • mkkddragon

    Hi, it’s a modifiés version?

  • michael sauter

I have VW CC2013, RNS-510 3C0035684J, H65, currently on 4xxx firmware , tried the last 2 5xxx firmware upgrades and both of them give me SWL error when installing, anyone have a clue, or am I wrong with the version of my nav system.

  • Gareth

Hi, Im a real novice at all this but the idea of improving functionality etc on my head unit really appeals. I do however have some questions which I was hoping that some of the more experienced users in this forum could help with. The information i get when I press and hold “setup” is:

    Delivery Part No. 3T0035680E
    HW Ver: H64
    SW Ver: 4024

    So;
    How do I know if I have a C or D or Z version head unit ?
Can I use the software from this page to upgrade my unit?
Will I have to re-code anything to get my bluetooth hands free, parking sensors etc working again?

Any help will be appreciated, thank you.

  • Happytroll

  • Morning all, will this work on my unit?

    Cheers,

  • Installed on my rns510
    All ok
    But NO SOUND whatsoever
No sound on radio media or nav
    Speakers just dead
    What causes that ?
    How to fix it?

  • I have just bought and fitted an RNS510 to my golf which has mk6 steering wheel and uprated canbus module
    It is an RNS 510 ‘S’ 1T0035680S with SSD drive HW-version H21 SW-Version 6276
I had to change ‘BAP’ do get the red MFD to show Navigation & Audio but now sterring buttons do not work

If I change the ‘BAP’ setting to work with white display, I lose Naavigation and Audio in MFD but steering buttons work fine.

Interestingly the buttons work fine with, red display but only for the first 20 seconds when switched on.

It appears this firmware is not an official firmware which I believe is the cause of the steering button problem.
I have emailed the reseller about the firmware and he said it is the only firmware which is compatible with SSD hard drive.

Would this firmware work on my radio and is this an official version?

    Thank you in advance
    Ady

    Hello everyone,
I would like to ask for advice before I install this update. Right now Im having version:
    Skoda Superb Columbus
    HW-Version HO5
    Sw-Version 4120
I did update my factory firmware with this 4120 and since then I getting less option in settings on dash board between clocks. Sat nav display option between clocks on dashboard completely disappear and few other options too.
Can anybody tell, who is using Columbus with latest update that has no problems or anybody can advice how to get back that functions to my options in settings in dashboard not on sat nav display setting.
    Many thanks

  • Dennis

I have a HW: C14 model with SW: 6270. I believ this has a different GPS chip and SSD.
I am assuming this firmware is NOT for me?
If not, is there an update for my model? It’s is quite buggy and I have been waiting in hope for an improvement….

  • zdenek

Hi, I’ve done the 5269 firmware upgrade and all is good apart from the Splash/Logo screen! Months before updating the firmware, I changed the logo to ‘R32’ I have now noticed the logo no longer displays!!! I’ve tied reloading the logo and the Rns510 says that its loaded but doesn’t display it! Is there a reason for this?
    Regards Stuart
