If the software update still doesn't start, even after selecting 24 hour mode for the clock, then leave the update CD in the drive and do a hardware reset. Press the two buttons to the right of the DVD slot (the eject and the i button) and also the SETUP button all at the same time. The RNS 510 will reboot and the update will start as shown in the screen shots.

Dear, you will not get any problems by downgrading to 1200 or 1100 if your rns510 was not modified (eeprom) with rns manager or something (I think you have a B version? if you have a C version you should NOT downgrade)... if so, you might brick your unit... you will also lose nice things, that were upgraded with version 2660 or above.

Hi,

I have purchased a RNS510 with firmware 2660 but have yet to install in my 07 Jetta. To avoid upgrading the Can bus can I downgrade to firmware 1100? Will I have any issues doing so? Many Thanks

Hey,
i read so much about the 1100 update, and i decided to do it. I have an A version made from Siemens (not Continental) (originaly HW:04, SW:1020). The unit is absolutely not stolen (I bought it for 3 Years at my Volkswagen dealer) and I get, the same as many other, the gateway 202 Error at 87% (10%gateway). I put in the 2720 gateway error recovery CD and now the unit works again on 1100, so far so good. BUT the steering wheel buttons are completely disabled (coding with VCDS, I had no sucess)...before on 1020 they were working. So I think, this was the problem of the gateway error 202, so that the buttons are not able to communicate with the Navigation any more...

My question: has anyone the same problems, and was anyone possible to fix it? Does anyone, with an Siemens RNS510,succeeded in Updating it completely?

Thank you very much! Michael

The only thing I can think of for you guys getting stuck at the 202 error would be to downgrade your firmware to an earlier working version. I'll tell you these RNS510 service tools sw is coming in more and more handy by the moment, I tried upgrading this from 1100 to 1102 and got the 202 error. Loaded up my RNS510 service tools sw and did firmware downgrade, reloaded 1100 and am just leaving it alone. How much of a difference can it really be from 1100 to 1102. If any of you are in the states and need the fw downgraded after bricking your unit I'll do it free of charge for you, you just supply the beer, lol.
