Fuel Consumption in VCDS/Vagcom

Fuel Consumption in VCDS/Vagcom

The fuel consumption indicator can sometimes be out from the real consumption figures, using VCDS/Vagcom you are able to alter the calculation to make it more accurate. In the instrument controller go to adaption and channel 3. The stored value is 100% and this can be altered to between 85% and 115%.

    what setting do u recommend?

Work out the fuel consumption based on your fuel receipts and adjust it from there, best to change it in small increments and monitor it over a period of time. Some are more accurate than others from the factory but a lot of it depends on your driving style from what I’ve seen.

if i want to make the display read about 0.5L more per 100 km, do i need to go higher or lower in the % number in VCDS ?

my displayed fuel consumption is usually about 0.5L lower than actual.
    so if it’s displaying 5.8L / 100km the actual will be closer to 6.3L / 100km.

please advise on which way i need to go.

Work out the correct liters per 100km going by amount of fuel going into the fuel tank and distance traveled.

So 100 (old adaption value) multiplied by 6.3 (new calculated figure) divided by 5.8 (old display value) – 100*6.3/5.7 = 110.5263157 and rounded off to the nearest value this is 111%.

ill give a go tomorrow and see if i feel it’s more accurate.

thanks for the info. i have adjusted the fuel consumption figure.
went with 112% as the 111% was still reading low.

last 2 weeks the MFD has displayed 6.4 and my calculated usage was 6.54
so im happy that it’s close now. it’s much more accurate than what it used to be.

    Jason.
