Volkswagen Golf C-Pillar Trims – Removal and Installation

Remove luggage compartment cover side support ? Chapter.
–   Remove roof frame trim ? Chapter.
–   Remove airbag emblem -1- and remove bolt -2- (4 Nm).
NoteWhen reinstalled, airbag emblem -1- must be renewed.
–   Remove nut -3- (1.5 Nm).
–   Release trim from stud of nut -3–arrow A-.
–   Release trim from mountings -arrow B- and from door seal beading.
–   Pull trim upwards out of mountings in body -arrow C-.
  • Remove luggage compartment cover side support.
  • Remove roof frame trim.
  • Remove airbag emblem -1- and remove bolt -2- (4 Nm).
  • Remove nut -3- (1.5 Nm).
  • Release trim from stud of nut -3–arrow A-.
  • Release trim from mountings -arrow B- and from door seal beading.
  • Pull trim upwards out of mountings in body -arrow C-.
Installation
  • Installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.
  • Before installing, check the five fasteners for damage and renew if necessary.
  • When reinstalled, airbag emblem -1- must be renewed.

  • […] C Pillar Pull back the C pillar trim at the rear of the car enough to allow you to see the openings, there is no need to remove the airbag tag and unscrew it as was done here. Using some stiff wire or yellow tongue (stiff yet pliable plastic rod used by electricians to run cables through walls, ceilings etc) to penetrate into the cavity behind the tail light (pull the carpet out as you were replacing a bulb and this will give you enough room to route the cable.
