I have replaced the RCD-510 in my 2010 Jetta with a RNS-510 but I could not get the transport lock or menu to lock or unlock to come up before I pulled it out. Is there a possibly something that is disabled thru VCDS? The RCD out of my car is made by Delphi, if that makes a difference. Any help would be great.

Hi, i’m hoping someone can help! I’ve just bought a second hand rcd510, & replaced my rcd300 in my 2008 golf mkv.
It all seemed to go well, the rcd510 powered up and everything seemed to work, except when i tried the cd player. Whenever I tried to load a cd it says please wait but nothing happens and it eventually goes back to tthe original screen.
I’ve read the thread here about the transportation lock, and I’ve tried this, but mine doesn’t seem to work quite as it’s described here.
My activation screen comes up straight away I don’t have to wait 5 seconds when i press the 3 buttons, & i’ve pressed the ‘deactivate’ button, but nothing change. The cd changer still won’t load, but the next time I pressed the 3 buttons I got the ‘deactivate screen straight away – which surprised me because that implies the lock was still activated??
Can anyone tell me another way to reset or factory reset, or to tturn off the transport lock?
Or any other ideas on how to get the cd player working? 🙂
    Thanks in advance

I have a RCD510 that was sent to me without activating the transport lock – and now the mechanics do not work. I bought two new cd changers from aliexpress China and none of them seem to work at all. No sound – and no noise. Just like all the other people here:( Anyone know why the new cd changers will not work? I read one bad feedback on aliexpress where the buyer claimed the board was faulty.

    • Runar Vaernes

Follow up: both Chinese sellers said to replace the board with the one from the faulty changer and that worked for me. I had to solder 5 wires but it was easy.

People will want to know what they did and how much you paid. Even I want to know, and I live across the sea… 🙂

  • Volkswagen RCD 510 delphi keystrokes?

  • I got an answer from Blaupunkt…

Here’s the question I asked using Google translate…

“I hope you can help me . I have a problem with a VW RCD510 Blaupunkt . I used the transport lock mode. When I press “deactivate” , I am still unable to load a CD. The RCD510 displays the message ” Please wait “.

I tried looking for solutions to this problem and see many people with the same problem . But I have found no solutions . Can you suggest something which may solve this problem?”

    and their response…

“…is a mechanical error at the CD Changer on your radio . This can only be remedied by replacing the drive .”

In my case, the RCD510 was fully tested before putting into transport mode and heavily padded when shipped. I don’t believe that the buyer has done anything else to the unit (which I’ve since collected) so if the mechanism is damaged its down to heavy handling during shipping.

Note, that the changer mechanism in mine does still go through a series of movements following a reset of the unit, but never opens to receive a CD.

Not great news, but since I could find no answers anywhere on this issue, at least its something. I recommend not shipping these units at all. I am probably going to install a new changer mechanism in mine, but then will only sell if I install in the buyer’s car.

  • I may be able to shed light on the cd changer issue and why some Ali Express ones don’t work…

I’ve just had the same issue. I posted an RCD510 out and it wouldn’t work. Long stoy short, I found that there is a very small white plastic part which can become dislodged in the changer extrmely easily. In my case, I did refit this, and the changer did then start to move and try to reset but something else was wrong. I suspect that some people who have this problem could refit this part and all would be OK. Not sure how to provide details of that, but will try to do a blog with pictures.

I fitted a changer and it would not power up. The issue is that there are two types of changer. On Ali express these are often described as old and new style. Old uses a 5V PCB and new is a 3.3V PCB. They appear identical apart from the voltage being marked on the board in the corner.

I swapped the PCB over (which requires a bit of intermediate level soldering to remove and refit a ribbon cable) and it worked. This is worth knowing as the “new” style changers are quite a bit more expensive if you can find them. So if you don’t mind a bit of fiddling about, it’s a cheaper route. But if you just want to get the right one, you need to take out your old changer, turn it upside down and look in the corner of the PCB nearest the centre of the changer for 3.3V or 5V.
