Interesting. My GUI still looks more like the previous version. It has the appropriate updates listed, and some of the GUI has changed (ie. current song is now highlighted black unlike before), but it looks nothing like the above photos.
how to activate voice control ?
use a vagcom ?

i have some trouble with the navigation after the update……
normally, even when parked in my garage, i see my position, but now it keeps saying off-road…….
when driving about 1 or 2 kilometers it finds the right position, so no problem but i want to know how come???

Can you confirm that this update will fix the WMA file error problem introduced previously by fw1100? I havnt been able to get the RNS510 unit to play my WMA music with 1100 update. This is a hassle as I need to convert them into mp3 format in order to listen in car.

Marc, I own a Superb II too. As far as you have been able to make the update:
- Could you tell me please how can I know which HW and SW version I’ve in my Columbus?
I’ve tried “”+”i” and “eject”+”i”+”setup” and pressing “setup for 15 seconds but none of them work. They only reboot the unit strating it from the green skoda logo screen.
- Have you had any problem? Connection with multiDot display, location in Germany, etc…after the upgrade. My Superb 1.8 TSI Elegance is from May 2008.

I drive a 07 Passat Highline 2.0 TDi (140Hp) with a retrofitted RNS510. I have done all the proper coding with VCDS so it works perfectly with the DIS and MFSW. After sucsessfully innsatlling the new 2660 FW I have gained access to all new features except I seem to be unable to get the climatronic control on RNS510 screen:-( It is a funny feature and someting I will like to work. Any idea anyone why it does not work, or how I am suppose to display it? Could it be my 07 (06 manufatured) climatronic is to old to support the feature, so I simply needs to install a newer climatronic unit? Anybody who knows?

I have a Skoda SuperbII and Columbus and have jut upgraded to 2660, works great! Next wednesday i have to go to my skoda dealer to fix some things and i have asked them to activate the voicecontrol option. I just don;t know what to say to the dealer so they know what to edit/change to make it work.
Can anyone tell me how to activate the voicecontrol so i can tell my dealer? Thanx.
p.s..how can i add the VIP places in the navigation?? I haven’t been able to find this option yet.

Do you have the factory mic for the Skoda bluetooth kit? If so you’ll need to reroute it, if not you will need to add the factory mic. Details will follow on the “Volkswagen RNS 510 Microphone Connection for voice control” page over the next few days.

No good, I have types here on my desk that are suitable and trying to identify one of them (actually find somewhere to buy it from in Australia). The other is available from a local supplier on a 30 metre roll for a reasonable price, will see if that’s worth getting and splitting it up amongst the Brisbane upgraders as there are at least 4 wanting to do this now. I’ll have the details up on the voice control page in the next few days.

If i have the fabric Bluetooth III carkit in my superb. Do i have to add.change some cables to get the voicecontrol working, or do i only have to change a software setting by VCDS of VAGCOM?
And if i have to change some cables, do have to detach the whole columbus, or can it be done wihout detaching the columbus out of the car?

Yes, you have to remove your Columbus to make it work.
Question that might be stupid. I have a RCD510, are there firmware updates for that RCD ? Maybe the same as the RNS ?

Perhaps you have read my answer on the microphone topic, but do you know if there is a way to activate the voice control bij using a VAS system like al dutch dealers do?
My dealer changed the microphone, but hasn’t been able to activate the voice control, because he couldn’t find the option to activate…..
There is an intersting video on youtube. Could someone confirm this by testing it on their RNS-510?
2 topics things to add:
- the new firmware fixes the wma-bug (with firmware 1100 a lot of wma-files couldn’t be played)
- I extracted the files from the image (using MagicDisc) for doing the edit to have the setup-menu available, and afterwards I burned the DVD (dvd+rw at 4x) using Roxio Creator Basic, by making a standard data dvd (instead of burning the image). It worked without problems.

My RNS 510 was on route from UK when the new FW came out (Great Timing)
With the information on these pages got everything working BT,climate control,all steering wheel,buttons Voice Command on phone,media and but not quite all Nav functions.
On the You Tube video an address can be entered by voice, the shiela on mine says address enrty not supported.
I was wondering if I’ve missed something or this is perhaps a limitation of AUS maps somehow.
Anyone got the say thing ?
Silly question, will this FW work in US units? I currently have 0320.
Not at the moment, version 0360 is due out soon for the US units and will have similar features.
Works great on my Touareg RNS-510! Took about an hour to install. Burned it lowest speed and CD-R to ensure best quality. First upgrade was successful.
Love the new fader option and some smaller changes. Will have a play with voice control now that I have seen the Youtube video.
I can’t get the climate control though? (I have 4-zone)
Also, I downloaded v5 Europe maps from the net (I have V3 VW Official myself). But someone else mentioned using a BMW Professional-2 navigation disk instead. Before I try this, any advice?

I’m from France and drive Golf V gt 140hp. I upgraded 2 weeks ago my RNS510 with new SW 2660. Everything is great except some small point:
- Impossible to save new music files on HDD
- After stopping the unit, the music originaly played on HDD restart from the beginning of the track.
- When the car is parked in a garage (out of satellite coverage) the navigation start from Germany, not from the previous destination.
Do you think this comes from the fact that the software is a Beta Version. Have you any information concerning a final verson of the SW ?

Finally after downgrade to SW 1100 and upgrade again to 2660 again, it fixed the problem of saving file on HDD

Is this an official VW upgrade done in a VW garage, or is it one that one must yourself?
I would like to upgrade my RNS510 as well. But if I understood well, this update is only working on a ‘B’ unit? Mine is a ‘A’ unit with HW version H04 en SW version 1020. All is working fine with Europe V4 and the hack to play video’s while driving is working just fine on the 1020 firmware version as well.
Which firmware should I download for my A unit with SW 1020? What are the steps? What are the risks? Can you downgrade the firmware when you encounter problems?

Upgraded my Tiguan RNS510 to #2660 without issues.
However, the climatronic still isnt displayed on the RNS510 – so not sure if this is something that isn’t supported or needs tweaking via VagCom.
Anyway, some really nice new features in #2660 so am very happy with the upgrade!

I have the problem . I have changed the Gateway to revision L, loaded FW 2660, and now I have the batery drain problem (in 24 h its almost flat).
So it seems that only changing the Gateway to L does not solve the problem in some cars..
My car is a Passat 3C, MY06, with factory fitted parking sensors and Premium Bluetooh phone.
If anybody can give some light.

I have the same comment – not much change to the layouts or colours, but the snapshots shown on top of this page are totally different – anyone have any idea why this would be?
2) Climatronic – cant find this anywhere on the RNS unit
3) I have not followed the instructions on the Voice Activation setup, but when i click the “STAR” button on my steering wheel, a message pops up on the MFI saying Voice control active – is this just for the phone control or is it for the system?

Hi again… I feel like a real idiot…
I did some more reading, and apparently there are multi GUI skins built into the unit itself – settable via VAGCOM – therefore there are different looks for the unser interface…
I am on the premium set, and do not have a VAGCOM kit so i cannot very that what i have read and recited here is true, but given the screenshots above, i believe the red skin is called sportsline…
Climatronic – cant figure that one out yet!!
I have info on the three types of screens with screenshots. Will try and get the info posted in the next week.

I’m having issues with my bluetooth kit dropping calls, etc.
Firmware v0380 and v0382 have been released for the US market RNS-510. The update is available at http://www.vw.ddsltd.com and just search for RNS and you can buy it for $20 but someone will upload it to this site soon I suppose.
US RNS-510′s are now at v0980 and v0982.
I have a MY10 (wk42) Skoda superb with columbus. I’m assuming that the fw is old as it will not play sdhc cards, and I cannot access the menu to check firmware. Is there an easy way to pull out the unit so I can check hardware and fw versions before I try and update?

Could you let us know what the difference is in v.266X and v.0980 or v.0982… are they the same just different regional nomenclature? Also for some reason, when I get onto the link provided – hxxp://www.vw.ddsltd.com, and do a search for RNS, I cannot find any firmware downloads/CD as an option? – I just see a 2 page selection of items valued at 2$ each…

(german) habe ein rns 510 version B upgedatet auf version C 2660 die hier angeboten wird. das einzige problem ist nur ( was mich personlich stoert ) wenn das rns beim fahren oder uberhaput bei eingeschalteter zundung, ausgeschaltet wird, leuchtet das display immer noch im hintergrund ohne jegliche anzeige. man kann zwar eine uhr sich anzeigen lassen allerdings nachts beim fahren finde ich das sehr stoerend!!! hat noch jemand erfahrungen damit??? kann man dies irgend wie abstellen??
