Hi, just got a RNS 510 from august 2008(HW H03, SW: 0900,1T0035680B), do i need to upgrade it? Is it dangerous(power drain issue?) Should i do it before or after installation in car?

Can this firware be used for a VW in the USA? I have an 09 Tiguan, can someone help as to if I can upgrade to a newer firmware?

Hi, I have 1T0 035 680 B. After installation this firmware was changed B index to C. Sometimes does not respond to pressing buttons. GPS position is unchanged. I can be anywhere, but the GPS shows possition in Germany. Sometimes GPS position works well but after some time shows position fo example 500km away. p.lukas: When position is wrong restore doesn’t help. When position is wrong restore doesn’t help. I tried to downgrade firmware but after reading SWL rns are reboot and displays a white screen.

Had a bit of a rough time doing this. I inserted the DVD, reset the system (eject+info+setup), The VW logo/splash screen appeared with a red header footer. It then proceeded to get in a cycle of starting with a white screen, then shutting down, then starting with a white screen and so on.

The question is, is this normal?

Hi Thanks fo rthe info as i seem to have a problem with my RNS510 which i think is a software problem.
Having downloaded the files, when extract with winrar, they all have the same file names.
Is it a case of just downloading and using one of the files, which i am doing at the moment, and then buring to disc using Nero?
Or do you need to download all the files and change their file names?
All new to this, as my wife has just bought a Golf TDI Match with the RNS510 installed, all was working a few days ago but now the unit just keeps rebooting itself and showing the Welcome to Volkswagen strapline.
I know that it is a 1T0 035 680 A/ HW: H04 / SW:1000.
