- Seat units – No, the Hardware ID shows up as Skoda but if this is changed to VW the firmware will load and the Hardware ID can be changed back to Seat. There are no hardware definaitions for the Seat on the upgrade media.
- USA Firmware has yet to be released
Download the files and extract them using winrar and you will have a NRG format ISO file to burn. Using Nero burn a DVD+RW or DVD-R (CDR works as well) at a slow speed (4 x is ok for DVD and 16 x for CD). Make sure you use quality media and keep the burn speed down as low as you can to ensure there are no problems during the installation process. Also note that you may need to edit a file before you burn it (see below) if you want to access the setup menu without Vagcom/VCDS.
Warning! This upgrade WILL delete your music and/or maps if you have a firmware version PRIOR to version 1100/1102. Units with a firmware version of 1100/1102 will not have music and maps deleted.
Warning! There is a remote chance of you ‘bricking’ the unit, this is a fraction of a percent but it could happen! The process takes around 60 minutes.’
Warning! There are a small number of users where the RNS 510 does not know where it is after it’s been powered on, details of the previous location are kept in the unit but at this stage there is no pattern to this problem.
Warning! Users with cars MY07 and earlier may experience power drain issues after the upgrade. See the post “Upgrading 2nd generation radios (RCD 300, RCD 500) to 3rd generation (RCD 210, RCD 310, RNS 310, RCD 510) power drain issue” for more details.
Warning! Users with the Skoda UHV bluetooth 1Z0 035 729 B (1Z0035729B) may want to delay upgrading the firmware, there is an issue with the RNS 510 no longer displaying the phone book and/or the call details but signal strength etc are visible for some phones. My HTC Diamond for example worked fine before the update but only partially afterwards however my Iphone 3G worked fine before and after. This is not a problem with the 1Z0 035 729 D (1Z0035729D) Skoda UHV bluetooth kit. The MFD functions as per normal with phone book and last calls listed correctly.
Note! Skoda owners (thanks to Ted)
- Extract files PQTABLE and SKTABLE from image (use magiciso or ultraiso). Files can be found from path: \VUCI\B101\RNSMIDEC\PROG
- Switch the filenames by just renaming SKTABLE to PQTABLE and vice versa
- Overwrite the renamed files back to image and save the image. Burn this image to DVD or CD.
- Load or reload the Firmware to your RNS-510 using the steps below.
- Voilá… buttons are back!
Note! - Test/Setup Mode. The firmware can allow access to enter test/setup mode without Vagcom/VCDS access see Accessing the Setup Menu on the RNS 510 head units with firmware later than 1100. The procedure for entering the test/setup mode for those with Vagcom/VCDS is slightly different as well. To enter the test/setup mode when the RNS 510 is operating press and hold the setup button, keep holding it when the radio menu appears and shortly after the test menu appears . I had to reboot my unit after coding it but it may be possible a power cycle is enough.
Note! - Failure (Gateway Error 202) - You can downgrade back to 1100 by inserting the 1100 firmware and rebooting the RNS 510 (Setup + eject + info).
Steps to load firmware
- Unlock and/or open the car
- Do not start the car
- Turn the RNS 510 on and insert the firmware CD/DVD into the drive

Firmware loading steps from start to finish
If i do the update and it does not work can you just get the fireware version that was on your unit and install that again ..
would like the new update but not if there is a risk it will stop my unit working .. dealers will not do the update
I just updated it and I did the following:
1) Download the file from the humyo link.
follow instructions and wait for 50 mins
2) Unrar that file (Right click – Unrar – you need WINRAR installed for this
3) Get nero or download a trial version from download.com
4) Put a blank CD-R in (CD’s will update faster than DVDs, although you can burn them onto DVDs)
5) Click on burn image and point nero to the image, choose 4x speed for CD OR 8x speed for DVD
6) Wait for burning to finish, unlock your car (DONT PUT KEY IN IGNITION) and fire radio up
7) Insert disc and reset system (SETUP+EJECT+INFO at the same time)
9) click done when ok and your system will be working!

It seems this is an other firmware version which won’t work on the Seat version of this system. Will there be ever a version which will work for Seat systems?
I installed the 2664 firmware on my 2008 Octavia II’s Columbus. Some things that caught my attention after the upgrade:
- Playing media from HDD:
When I take out the key (and “shutdown” the Columbus) in the middle of a song, the song
starts from the beginning the next time you start the car (and the Columbus) instead of
resuming the song (which was the case with firmware 1100)
- Mute/U-mate:
When I mute the sound while playing any media and un-mute again, the volume is back at
start level (volume level when starting the columbus) and not the volume level I choose
before muting
- Startposition navigation:
Navigation does not remember the last location I parked the car but “thinks” it’s
somewhere 260 KM from The Netherlands (where I live) in Germany.
- Carkit:
The intergrated Skoda carkit which worked perfectly before the firmware upgrade lacks
some functionality. The phonebook doesn’t show in the Columbus display anymore (known
issue, but workaround (prepping firware CD and install bt_sap.cab on my WM6.5 HTC TytTn2 does not seem to work). I can connect the phone to the carkit and call/receive calls, but after a conversation, the bluetooth connection is lost and I have to restart bluetooth on my phone. I experienced none of these issues before the frimware upgrade with the same phone.
- Bluetooth audio:
Under de “Media” button a bluetooth icon appears, but it’s greyed out. I cannot choose the bluetooth device (my phone) neither do I hear audio coming from the speakers when I play music from my bluetooth enabled phone. Columbus is set to “Automatically play bluetooth audio”. Maybe a setting I need to configure?
I just wanted to share my experience with you guys. I downloaded firmware 1100 to downgrade, but the software load stops
v270x is coming out so v266x could be a beta version. v6 maps are also coming out which will have the speed limit features and have new map data.
Any news about new SW v270x? Was it released? Did any one get it so far?
Actually there is FW v268x then maybe FW v270x.

Hi I have RNS-510 in 2008 Tiguan.The audio distorts in all modes for a few seconds when starting the vehicle.

Did the update on my 58 Treg RNS510 but have lost voice command function. Any ideas anyone? Voice command tab missing from setup also and DAB radio tab from the radio screen (holding in setup)
You need Vagcom/VCDS to enable this.
Is this upgrade locked to any region? i.e. Will this update work on my mk6 gti in Australia?
Also is there anyway to check the currently installed firmware level?

US Firmware 0380 and 0382 is now available and should be posted to this site shortly. 0380 is for the Golf/Jetta/Passat/CC/EOS/Tiguan while 0382 is for Touareg.

I forgot to change the setting for the Skoda Octavia (2008) I can’t work with the buttons on the steerwheel and also cannot copy or delete something from the HDD,somebody a solution?

@webwizzard, same problem here. after the 5th try the firmware was updated but no sound. I changed all settings but i hear nothing, no sound for audi of navigation, anybody an idea? (passat 2009/4)

I used this firmware to downgrade my 1T0035680C unit from 2680 to 2660 to have VIM. It was successful and everything is working like before (voice control, bluetooth car kit etc.) and I have now VIM
but in MFD I lost the Navigation and the Radio tab. If I scroll on the right side of the MFSW I have only Settings and MFI (speed, fuel cons. etc.). It is not a big issue because I still can change radio stations and volume on the left side of the steering wheel but for my curiosity is it possible to get it back? With Vagcom/VCDS? Can somebody tell how? Thanks.
Managed to solve it. Simply after reboot twice (Setup+Eject+Info) radio and navigation info appeared again in MFD. BTW I did not loose any data on HDD during the downgrade and no “Regensburg syndrom” with fw 2660.
Changing firmware now, will let you know if all goes well.

Oke, upgrade succeded !! Everything as before. System works faster. But the only two things : only voicedial for the phone works, not for radio, …like promised and the navigation thinks i am in Germany instead of Belgium. Now looking for some upgrade of my maps(V3)to version V6.
My specs : VW Golf6 TDI 110HP, 04/2009 (full option)
I update the firmware of my RNS 310?
SW- update worked fine and the new V6 map found on the net. A little unlucky because no speedcams on the map. Need some POI (speedcams) for West-Europe. New features works but I red that I have to change my mic (Carkit BT premium) to have voicecontrole for radio, navigation, media, ….?? Also “symbol” popupscreen in navigation is gone.Only compas,targetmap and satelitereach ??

I havent done this upgrade yet and i have a 59reg Scirocco and have some of the above features but not all and will probably wait till 2700 is released. I do however have v6.1 maps with speedcamera’s on an official VW disc which i will look to make an ISO image of for you all !!

After upgrading my 1T0 035 680 C to FW2660 (seller had downgraded it for compatibility reasons to 1020) I can’t modify files on HDD.
* When trying to delete a file, it says “The active audio file cannot be deleted”
* When trying to rename file it says something like “operation unsuccesful”
* When trying to copy a file/folder from SD card it doesn’t say anything, but neither does it copy anything
I tried these with song playing from CD, SD and HDD, no difference.
Googling this message “The active audio file cannot be deleted” didn’t give me any results.
Is there an option somewhere to allow only reading (on unit itself or via VCDS) or something else that I should check?

Put the CD into navigation, get error message “Downdrade error”
After that, I restart unit(press setup+eject+info) a try it again, this time it ended with SUCCESS
Maps was remove, but MP3 are still on HDD and I cant remove them (again “The active audio file cannot be deleted”).
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
(btw “WA\FORMHDB1.WSH and replace first symbol in line “hdTermFormat(“/hdb1″,3)” with #” I check that and it is without #, so format should delete MP3 include…..)

hello! anyone can tell me where can download 2600? i need this because other version over 2600 has wrong position error of map offset in China. all the geniune altitude and longitude are intentionally and childishly deviated by gov. only the firmware under 2600 has the function of decode on deviation.

With that my problem has been solved.
If I upgrade it ¿Is it possible to see the DVD on rute?. And can I see the radars?
